There are an estimated seven to nine Uncirculated 1846 quarter eagles currently known, most are in the MS60 to MS62 range. The sole finest is an NGC/CAC MS64, while the best at PCGS are a pair of MS63s.
This nice example is crisply detailed with rich natural green-gold color.
No CAC approved MS61 1846 quarter eagle has ever sold at auction. The most recent APR for a non-CAC in MS61 is Heritage 11/2018: 5202 at $4,320; it was graded by PCGS.
As with most of the 1840s Philly quarter eagles, the 1846 seems hugely undervalued in any Uncirculated grade.
CAC has approved three in MS61 with four finer (best is a single MS64).
