RARE NGC MS61 1844 QUARTER EAGLE
Only 6,784 examples were produced, and fewer than 100 are known in total. Including this coin, I am aware of only three to five Uncirculated 1844 quarter eagles currently extant, with the single highest graded a PCGS MS62 which upgraded from a PCGS/CAC MS61.
I think this coin is very solid for the grade and it is tons nicer than you would expect for an issue such as this 1844 quarter eagle in the dreaded NGC MS61grade.There is no readily apparent wear and the luster is bold on both sides. The eye appeal is made complete by attractive natural hues.
There are a total of three APRs for this date in MS61; the two below, and Heritage 2014 FUN; 6431 which was a high-end PCGS/CAC coin at $15,275.
A coin that is solidly in the Condition Census for the issue and which is likely the best available 1844 quarter eagle.
