This issue is numismatically significant as it is the first yer of issue for the long-lived Liberty head quarter eagle type.
A scarce issue in any AU grade, and a date that still qualifies as being overlooked and undervalued.
Just two NGC and two PCGS AU55 1840 quarter eagles have sold at auction since 2011, with the most recent sale for $3,360 for a PCGS graded example that Heritage offered in 6/2018.
