SCARCE, UNDERVALUED 1859-S $1 GRADED MS60 BY NGC
The 1859-S is a truly scarce issue in Uncirculated which is almost never seen in grades higher than MS62. I doubt if there are more than a dozen known in all Mint State grades combined.
This piece is surprisingly nice for the grade, and I think it has at least a 50% chance to get into a PCGS holder if sent in for crossover.
Just two MS60 examples–both graded by NGC–have sold at auction since early 2009. One brought $3,840 in 11/2024, while the other realized $4,080 in September of that year.
