COLLECTOR GRADE PCGS/CAC VF30 1874-CC $10
Without exception, the CC eagles from the 1870s are all very scarce to rare in Extremely Fine and higher grades. The most available of these is the 1874-CC, but I hesitate to brand this as a “common date,” especially coins that are CAC-quality.
This is an original and uber-wholesome Choice VF with some luster seen beneath natural russet coloration. A small mark at Liberty’s mouth is not detracting.
A non-CAC PCGS VF30 sold for $5,040 as Heritage 3/2023: 93049, while the most recent record of sale for a PCGS/CAC VF30 was back in early 2018 when a coin brought $4,320.
You’d be hard-pressed to locate another 1874-CC at this price point that had the overall eye appeal that this fresh-to-the-market example displays.
CAC has approved three in his grade with 29 finer.
