The scarcity of this issue is not well-known outside of specialized $10 Lib collectors, but the 1857 eagle is a legitimately tough coin in nice AU55 to AU58 and a major rarity in Uncirculated with only four or five known.
This frosty slider is among the more cosmetic 1857 eagles I have offered for sale. Its vibrant light orange-gold surfaces show light rub in the obverse fields but little—if any—wear from circulation.
Since 2001, just four PCGS AU58 1857 eagles have sold at auction. The only one since 4/2014 was Stack’s Bowers 11/2022: 7227 at $5,520.
