POPULAR 1863 $3, GRADED AU58 BY PCGS AND APPROVED BY CAC
The low mintage 1863 (just 5,000 were made for circulation) is a very popular Civil War three dollar issue which has multiple levels of demand.
This lustrous slider example shows light green-gold color and it is well-defined with no weakness of strike noted. A few light ticks are visible in the fields and there are a number of mint-made clashmarks as on virtually every known 1863 $3.00.
There are just two APRs for this date in PCGS/CAC AU58, with both occurring in the middle of 2022; one brought $12,925 while the other sold for $10,500.
A hard issue to locate finer than this and a very solid example for the date and grade.
CAC has approved seven in this grade with nine finer.
